A barnyard just isn't a barnyard without a few chickens scratching in the dirt.  No family farm or country
homestead is complete without them.  They're easy to care for, take up relatively little space, come in a
variety of colorful breeds, provide tasty eggs and fertilizer for the garden, eat harmful slugs and insects, and
can even be socialized to human contact so they make great pets.

You don't even need a farm to enjoy the benefits of owning chickens.  A small flock will fit easily into a back
yard, even in town!

Though ducks, geese, and turkeys aren't quite as popular or as adaptable to the back yard as chickens,
